The History of Hazrat Adam (AS)
Hazrat Adam (AS) is considered the first human being and the first prophet in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. His story is mentioned in the Holy Quran and the Bible, highlighting his creation, life in Paradise, and descent to Earth.
Creation of Hazrat Adam (AS)
According to Islamic belief, Allah created Hazrat Adam (AS) from clay and gave him life. The Quran states that Allah commanded the angels to bow before Adam (AS) as a sign of respect, acknowledging his superior knowledge. However, Iblis (Satan), who was a jinn, refused to bow due to his arrogance. As a result, Iblis was expelled from Paradise and became the sworn enemy of mankind.
Life in Paradise
Allah created Hazrat Hawwa (Eve) from Hazrat Adam’s (AS) rib as his companion. They lived in Jannah (Paradise) and were allowed to enjoy all its blessings except for one forbidden tree. However, Iblis deceived them into eating from this tree, leading to their expulsion from Paradise. This event signifies the first sin committed by mankind and the beginning of human trials on Earth.
Descent to Earth
As a consequence of their mistake, Allah sent Hazrat Adam (AS) and Hazrat Hawwa (AS) to Earth. They were separated for a long time and later reunited at Jabal al-Rahma, near Arafat in present-day Saudi Arabia. Hazrat Adam (AS) repented for his mistake, and Allah forgave him, establishing the concept of mercy and forgiveness.
Prophethood of Hazrat Adam (AS)
Hazrat Adam (AS) was the first prophet and was given divine guidance. He taught his children about monotheism, righteousness, and obedience to Allah. He also introduced basic survival skills like farming and tool-making. His teachings laid the foundation for human civilization and the worship of one true God.
The First Tragedy – The Story of Habil and Qabil
Hazrat Adam (AS) had two sons, Habil (Abel) and Qabil (Cain). The two brothers were instructed to offer sacrifices to Allah. Habil’s sacrifice was accepted, but Qabil’s was not, which led to jealousy. In a fit of rage, Qabil killed his brother Habil, making it the first murder in human history. Allah sent a crow to show Qabil how to bury his brother, marking the beginning of burial traditions.
Death of Hazrat Adam (AS)
Hazrat Adam (AS) lived for approximately 930 years, according to various Islamic narrations. Before his death, he appointed his son, Hazrat Shees (Seth), as his successor to continue spreading Allah’s message. Hazrat Adam (AS) was buried on Earth, and his teachings continued to guide humanity.
